Illustrated Book Edges

This project explores the art of illustrating directly on the edges of books, transforming them into visually striking objects even when closed. Unlike traditional cover designs, the painted edges provide a subtle, continuous visual narrative that hints at the story within.

The work required careful consideration of composition, texture, and detail, as the medium demanded simplification to ensure the artwork remained visible and impactful on the narrow surface of the pages. I experimented with symmetry, decorative motifs, and imaginative elements, including dragons, to create designs that are both distinctive and harmonious.

This project challenged me to interpret narrative concepts with limited reference, fostering creativity and problem-solving while refining my skills in book and product illustration. Each piece demonstrates a balance between aesthetic appeal and technical precision, resulting in vibrant, one-of-a-kind works that enhance the reading experience.
